Season 6 has been incredible thus far. Series veteran Tyler Wright and rookie Tom Hauser have been engaged in a fierce battle for the Regular Season Points Championship. Wright and Hauser have scored 2 wins each, with Hauser scoring 7 stage wins to Wright's 1. However, Wright has been very consistent this season, having only finished outside the Top 10 once.
The pair have also become heated rivals on the track. On several occasions, the pair have sparred on the track and on the headset, but don't let that fool you... there's nothing but respect between the two.
Wright said of Hauser, "I knew he was a good driver, he made a lot of noise in Xfinity last season, winning a bunch of races and the series championship. When Sage Karam is recruiting someone to the Cup Series, you just know there's no jokes...".
Hauser had the following to say, "Tyler and that number 18 are something else... he could have spun and sitting dead last, but 3 laps later he's taking a run at the lead. He's as consistent as you can get, never deviates from the plan and puts that car in places it has no business and makes it stick. That's why he's so sucessful...".
Both drivers say that their rivalry makes them drive better. "Yeah, I mean if that 18 isn't rubbing fenders with me, that means I'm not running well" Hauser said. "He's definitely capable of winning championships here, clean and focused driver who isn't afraid to show the vets he's willing to shake their cages, you need that. Getting comfortable is dangerous in this series.".
We'll see how it all shakes out come playoffs.
